Somewhere in these stories there is also a sad woman who comes back after her death to find her husband has moved on with another love. As Bond puts himself, these stories “are about how the process of growing up has made us what we are today.” Most of the stories in this book were written a few months before the publication but several of them are set in the period of Bond’s childhood and adulthood. They have a semi-autobiographical touch and talk about the times when Bond lived in Dehra Dun with his grandmother. The stories set in Dehra Dun of the mid nineteenth century portray certain eccentric young lives. And Living Without Money is one of the stories that was written when Bond was freelancing.
